Madison Gaines is our featured senior for the visual arts department at The Donoho School. I had the chance to interview her, and here is what I learned about her artistic mind!

Q: When did you start painting?
MG: “I started painting when I was still in the lower school.”

Q: Why do you like to paint?
MG: “I like it because it’s easier for me than drawing, and it’s also very relaxing.”

Q: What is your favorite type of artistic style, and why?
MG: “My favorite type of art is intuitive because there is no plan, you just paint or draw whatever you want and whatever comes to you.”

Q: What is your favorite piece of art?
MG: “My favorite piece of art would have to be Fathom by Flora Bowley.”

Q: What do you like about art class?
MG: “I like that we are free to use our own ideas in art class, and I look forward to going to art class everyday.”

Q: Finally, do you have any words about Ms. Landrum and how she affects your artistic life?
MG: “Ms. Landrum is really talented and I always take her advice on how to improve my artwork.”
