Homecoming and Alumni Weekend 2018

This school year’s homecoming week (September 24-29) was full of fun and festivities. Starting with dress-up days, the students had fun going to school with themed outfits all week. These dress-up days included pajama day, career day, superhero/supervillain day, jersey day, and spirit day. To continue with the celebrations, Thursday night Dr. Anand Lyer (‘03) was honored as this year’s 2018 Outstanding Alumnus. Also, this weekend Donoho recognized Mr. and Mrs. “T” and named The Redge and Jeanie Thagard Honor Scholarship in honor of their dedication to the school.

Friday night’s tailgate was full of burgers and delicious food. Following the tailgate was the football game where the Donoho Falcons were victorious! The cheerleaders pepped the crowd up, while the pep band’s music filled the air. During halftime at the game, the homecoming court was called to the field. The Homecoming Court was as follows:

Freshman Class: Kathleen Seals and Ridge Hopkins

Sophomore Class: Victoria O’Neill and Ethan Miles-Jameson

Junior Class: Alexis Dukes and Reid Williamon

Queen Candidates: Jenna Stremmel, Shelley Phillips, Emma Burke Owsley, and Whitney Seals

King Candidates: Rhett Rigsby, Cole Runyan, Bryant Barrentine, and Yash Patel

Rhett Rigsby and Whitney Seals were crowned the 2018 Homecoming King and Queen!

To end the festive week, the class of 1988 had their reunion on Saturday. The celebration consisted of art projects with Ms. Landrum, tie-dying t-shirts, streaming football games, and visiting with retired faculty. The Donoho School Alumni weekend will become an annual event consisting of a tailgate Friday before the football game, an alumni family day on Saturday, and an outstanding Alumni recognition! We are so excited to bring this new tradition to the Donoho community!
