Traveling Around The World
The reason I even had the opportunity to travel a lot was because of my parents. They really enjoy traveling and because of that, the family would usually have at least one big trip every year or so. Even when trips weren’t as big of a deal, like when I would go to the beach, I still would have to go. So despite my general attitude towards going out or staying at home, I was still forced to travel a lot, and I think that has changed my personality somewhat for the better, and I appreciate the trips I’ve taken a lot more now than I did a couple years ago.
The first big trip I remember taking was driving up towards South Dakota in an RV to see the famous monument, Mount Rushmore. I did this back in 2010 when I was eight years old, so I don’t remember too much about it. I also went to California and Nevada to see the Redwood Forest and Las Vegas. While I personally preferred going to the Redwood Forest, I did end up breaking my arm which basically prevented me from playing football in eighth grade, and I was somewhat disappointed with that. Finally, I went to West Virginia and Virginia during the summer of 2018. The reason my family and I went there is basically because my parents used to live there back in college and medical school, but the trip was still fun.
I’ve also been to many countries around the world. The first I’ve been to was actually Canada on another RV trip so we could see Niagara Falls. I’ve also been to England and France in 2012, Costa Rica in 2014, Ireland in 2017, and Italy and Peru in 2019. Out of all of those trips, I personally enjoyed going to Ireland and Peru the most. Just seeing the culture of these countries, their people, and all the other interesting parts like monuments and the landscape were so interesting. I’ve also been to a number of other places such as Jamaica and the states of New York, Louisiana, Kansas, and Illinois.
I think my favorite part about any trip I’m going on is to go and see the famous monuments. From Stonehenge to Machu Picchu, all of these monuments and places have a story to tell. I really love learning about what they are about because it teaches me about the time period when it was built, people who knew about it, and even in some cases, the mystery of the monument and how it even came to be. All of these monuments and places, like the Eiffel Tower and Skellig Michael, are very interesting to me not only because of the monuments and places themselves but also of the places they’re located.
The people of a different country are also interesting to me. They usually can represent the modern culture that country would have. Not to mention, I also enjoy the general sightseeing and sometimes the hiking or trekking when I’m on a trip. It’s just nice to take a look around you and see what is, well, around. Aspects like the plant life, kinds of buildings and shops, and other cultural aspects you can pick out from the place you currently are really show how traveling can be beneficial for anyone who is interested. This is also why I really enjoy traveling.
To sum things up, I have traveled a lot more than I ever thought I would throughout my life so far, and to be honest, I definitely want to travel even more in the future. The things I have seen and learned from other states and countries have truly helped to shape me into the person I am today. For anyone who may have wondered whether or not traveling is worth it, I really hope you can give it a try if you ever have the chance.
