A Letter to My Parents

Dear Momma,

A lot of people do not know the impact you have on my life, the struggles you have grown from, and the things you have accomplished. Most of all, others do not know your biggest accomplishment, being a mom. Everything you do is for someone else, and this shows in your everyday life. You bring joy to everyone around you, and you are constantly selfless. You have taken everything in your life and have chosen for it to affect you positively and to grow from it to be a better person. You are the strongest and smartest person I know. You have conquered so much in life and continue to inspire me in so many ways. I have looked up to you my whole life,  and I hope and pray I become half the person you are. We have been through so much together, and I would not want to go through it with anyone else. You have continued to believe in me even when I do not deserve it and have continued to love me when I am half-past loving. Every argument ends in laughter, every heart-to-heart ends in tears, and every moment with you I will never take for granted. You are my biggest supporter, my rock, and my best friend. Thank you for motivating me in so many different ways. Thank you for working out the college I will attend; you know what is best for me. You used to sing “You Are My Sunshine” to me when I was younger; thank you for being my light and for shining even in my darkest times. I love you to the moon and back. I would not trade you for anything because I promise that without you to guide me through, I would be nothing. Thank you for all the lessons, comfort, arguments, laughter, and most importantly, thank you for being my mom.

I love you,

Your Sunshine

Dear Dedy,

You have always been the strongest man in my life. You have taught me many different lessons, from changing the oil in my car to how to earn respect. We have had our differences in life, and we do not always agree, but I am thankful you are my dad. You are one of the very few men in my life I will ever look up to. I cherish every second I have with you. As a child, I looked up to you so much and wanted your heart when I got older. You always told me to find a man like you, which is still my goal. Finding a man like you will be one of the hardest tasks in life. You are caring, loving, and selfless. Your humor is incomparable, and you always know how to make me laugh. From threatening to dance on top of tables, to trying to completely embarrass me in front of my friends – I love every moment. I reminisce on all the adventures we had, all the drives, all the jam sessions, all the four-wheeler races, and most of all, I love remembering the laughter and the smile I always had on my face. I can not wait to become the woman you have always hoped for me to be. Thank you for all the times you have supported me when it has been very hard to support me. Also, thank you for all the times you have financially supported me through the many things I have done. I hope the bond we have is never broken, and I am so grateful to call you my Dad.

I love you,

Your Squirrel
