Casual for a Cause

Chloe Phillips, Staff Writer

On August 21, the day of the recent total solar eclipse, Donoho students spent a minimum of $2 to wear casual clothing for the day. This fundraiser, called Concern for Others Day, is observed monthly; the money collected is then donated to charity. The funds raised from the August Concern for Others Day was presented to the local Anniston Museum of Natural History. Olivia Davis, SGA President, gave a check amounting to just over $200 to Ms. Sarah Burke on September 7th. Ms. Burke is the education director of the local non-profit organization the Anniston Museum of Natural History. Ms. Burke spoke to and encouraged the students of Donoho to volunteer at the Museum of Natural History after the presentation of the check. She spoke of how the museum is a fantastic way to learn more about our natural world, including the occurrence of solar eclipses, and a great way to earn community service hours!
