As the leading institute for Chinese language and culture in the Rhine-Main-Area, Konfuzius-Institut Frankfurt was established in 2007.
We set the benchmark as a competence centre for Chinese as a foreign language by our language training for adults and children, as well as by our certified teachers’ training and our commitment for Chinese in local schools. Our language courses and teaching materials are in accordance with the internationally recognized HSK examination, which is held regularly in Frankfurt.
Our rich cultural program in the spirit of intercultural dialogue offers exciting insights into the great variety of Chinese culture, and provides access to the Chinese community in Frankfurt. For the broader public, our academic conferences offer opportunities for more in-depth analysis of specific China related issues.
Cultural Program
Since 2014, the Konfuzius-Institut Frankfurt participates in the Frankfurt Bookfair as an exhibitor and organizer of 3 to 5 events in October.
By offering a broad range of events and opportunities, we strive to introduce Chinese diversity to all interested parties with our cultural program all around the year. We regularly organize lectures, readings, workshops and other formats on issues like economy and society, art and science, and many others.
Chinese Teachers’ Advanced Training
Together with the Goethe-Lehrer-Akademie, the Chinese Department at Frankfurt University, and the Ministry of Culture & Education of the state Hesse, Konfuzius-Institut Frankfurt has developed the “Certificate for competency-oriented Chinese language teaching”.
Students’ Theater
Since 2014, our students' theater group FU (福) has successfully brought several plays to stage. Among the plays are Death of the Concubine (甄嬛之死), Red Lantern (大红灯笼) and Head to Eye, Eye to Nose: Who is here the boss? (五官争功).The group has taken up an adaptation of Fight (奋斗).
Chinese at Schools
Konfuzius-Institut Frankfurt supports a growing number of schools in the Rhine-Main-Area that want to establish Chinese as a foreign language in their curricula. During the holidays, we regularly offer our popular children's program China live (体验中国儿童周)for children aged 6-12 together with various primary schools.
